The Pfizer Clinical Research Unit is seeking healthy Japanese volunteers to participate in upcoming studies. Japanese participants are an important part of medical discoveries that could truly make a difference for Japanese patients around the world.
Healthy participants in clinical trials help us understand how a study drug or study vaccine affects the body. This is one way to learn about a potential treatment or vaccine before giving it to patients with a medical condition. Because medications can have different effects for people based on things like gender and ethnicity, Japanese participants in clinical trials help learn more about how potential medications or vaccines may specifically affect Japanese patients.

What to expect
When you contact us about volunteering at the PCRU, you will speak to one of our staff members who will answer your questions, collect some information about you, and add you to our database of volunteers. Once you are in our database, if we have a study that may be a fit for you, you will be notified and invited to attend a screening visit at our facility in New Haven, CT. The screening visit involves some more questions and physical assessments to see if you meet the study requirements. If you qualify for the study, there may be a period of up to 28 days before dosing begins.
Generally, a study includes an active period and a follow-up period. The active period is when the study dosing is taking place. The follow-up period is after dosing is completed but participants are still being observed by staff and may be asked to complete some procedures in person or by phone. The active period for many of our studies requires staying at the PCRU for several nights. The exact amount of time varies by study.
Participants who qualify and choose to participate receive compensation for their time. The amount depends on factors like length of the stay, total number of study visits, and the nature of the study procedures. You may also receive a bonus to cover study-related travel. Compensation will be provided on a loadable debit card in US dollars within 2 weeks of the completion of a visit or study milestone.
